New worlds in space
Although the story of Foreverness starts on planet earth in 1992, it will take us, along with terrestrial civilisation to the edge of the Milky Way. This means that new planets and star systems will be colonised by an ever growing, ever expanding population of humans, anomata and other alien species.
One of the most fascinating aspects of the story is that, because of its extension in time and space, it begs the question of how civilisation could start anew, which are the different options and the different possible outcomes.
Imagine you and other 500 people landed in an habitable planet. Not necessarily similar to the earth, but habitable in the broad sense of the world, with breathable air, drinking water and arable land. How would you go about making it your home? What would be the rules you would set for the game of society to start unfolding? What would be the consequences of those rules? Which are your core values? Where would they take you.
Also consider, that some time after you get there, some other space craft full of humans seeking habitable land will arrive. What are you going to do about it? Barr their entry, associate with them, both or neither?
Furthermore, in good logic, a colonising population will be arriving from a nearby location likely to be closer to Earth’s sun Helios. As colonists travel farther and farther away from the earth they, with the passing of time and social changes introduced in the new planets, they will resemble less and less to the original terrestrial civilisation. However, there will be more similarity with the inhabitants of the sector which they inhabit, their ancestors, and less with the inhabitants of neighbouring sectors, with whom they will have no common history since the begining of human space travel.
Thus, galactic sectors will be culturally different although some patterns will emerge wich are repeated in many of them because, after all, in all of them humans and anomata will be playing the same survival game.
