The inhabitants of Foreverness
In the world of Foreverness we will meet many different types of characters. It is not really a spoiler to talk about their types and names. I would be too long and tedious to describe them all in this post, but it is worth understanding who they are, what makes them different from each other, what their names mean. This is what this post is about.
The main divide between them is weather the are the result of biological growth or they are assembled from smaller parts. Anything you may call “machine” is made from parts and we respectfully refer to them as anomata. We will certainly dedicate some time in the future to talk about the different types of anomata, autonata (yes, autoNata), cyberomata, quantomata… but we are trying to draw a bigger picture here. One of the most important anomata in the story is certainly Liberto, who we have already talked about.
Organic being are further divide between adenural, resulting from DNA coded genetical information (this name comes from the Spanish spelling of DNA, which is ADN. Unfortunately, the English acronym doesn’t lead to a nice word in this case) and non adenural. Terrestrial life, animals and plants, excluded some bacteria and other simple forms of life, belong to this family, but out there in space, we will meet other embryonic being which are not, such as Don-i, the brigsan.
The use of technology will divide humans in three main groups: nubeans, biomata and nubeanean.
Nubeans reject the use of any “parts” in ther body, in essence to separate themselves from the anomata, but that story is hidden in the pages of the book. They are a minority among humans and basically from a single extended people.
Biomata embrace the use of technology in the bodies to repair failed parts or to improve their capabilities. In common lingo they could probably be called cyborgs. but in the book that is their name. Biomata, like anomata, are divided in many smaller grous, from which we will really get to know the terrifying beniomata, who get their legs cut soon after birth as you will find out.
Nubeaneans look “natural”, similar to the nubeans, but this is only because they hide their prothesys and implants.
Finally, the librans, like Orix, are a mix of all of the above. Libran is not an objective cathegory. You will probably identify a libran by their cloths and the way the go about in life, but they can be nubeans, biomata or even anomata. Libran is a personal identification, a commitment to peace, justice and freedom.
